The Betrayal by Jerry Jenkins

The Betrayal

By Jerry B. Jenkins

Detective Boone Drake has just masterminded the most massive sting in Chicago history, bringing down the heads of not only the biggest street gangs in the city but also the old crime syndicate. The story is the biggest in decades, and the Chicago Police Department must protect the key witness at all costs. Despite top secret plans to transfer the witness ahead of his testimony before the grand jury, an attempt is made on his life. And the person suspected of leaking this information may be one of the CPD’s own.

My Review:  ♥  ♥  ♥

I’m normally a huge fan of Jerry B. Jenkins novels. RIVEN is one of my all time favorite novels, and I love the LEFT BEHIND SERIES. So I was excited to learn he had written a new mystery surrounding a leak in the Chicago Police Department.

Boone Drake, a Chicago police officer is shot when he throws himself in front of a witness under police protection. The only way the criminal gang could have known where the witness was is if one of five people at the police department leaked it. When evidence points to Boone’s girlfriend, he checks himself out of the hospital and investigates to clear her name.

The novel is well written, but I didn’t enjoy it that much. Boone Drake came across as arrogant. Also I figured out who the culprit was by the time I read the third chapter. I don’t enjoy mysteries I can figure out too quickly. But others might enjoy this easy read detective novel. I am better at guessing mysteries than most people.
